When you visit the home of actor Nishvika Naidu in Bengaluru, you will be greeted by warm licks from her six-month-old Cocker Spaniel, Junior Leo, and the year-and-a-half-old Indie, Lulu. On International Dog Day, Nishvika shares her love for her furry, four-legged companions. "I have always had a special affection for dogs," she says. Her journey with dogs began when she defied her mother's reservations about the maintenance involved in having a dog and brought home her first pet, Leo. Leo became a beloved member of the family until his passing in December last year. Lulu came into their lives unexpectedly when Nishvika's mother rescued her, and despite initial plans of finding her a new home, they ended up keeping her. Junior Leo, affectionately called Juny, was brought home to help Nishvika's mother cope with Leo's loss. Nishvika believes in giving a loving home to dogs and named him Junior Leo in honor of their first dog. Nishvika looks forward to the heartwarming welcome she receives from her pets when she returns home. Despite the occasional mischief, she admits that the love and joy her dogs bring outweigh any frustrations."Hey, you always show nothing but love and end up forgiving them."
